ST. HENRY CATHOLIC SCHOOL PARENT TEACHER ORGANIZATION

The St. Henry Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) is a volunteer based organization whose purpose is to strengthen, enhance and encourage the educational and social environment at St. Henry School. Its goals are to complement the school curriculum with additional opportunities for parents, teachers and students to learn, socialize, communicate and grow.

All parents/guardians of children currently enrolled at SHS and all SHS faculty are automatically members of the SHS PTO. The PTO Board is composed of members who are either elected or appointed to Board positions.  There are currently 30 members on the PTO Board. The Board meets on a monthly basis throughout the school year (August – May) on the third Thursday of each month in the school library at 3:00pm (there will be no December meeting and the April meeting is the fourth Thursday due to Spring Break).  All are welcome to attend these planning meetings.  Minutes from each meeting will be posted on the school website once they are approved.

New this year!

The PTO will hold three General PTO Evening Meetings accompanied by a speaker on topics parents indicated were of interest to them.  We encourage you to attend these meetings to get the latest update on the PTO budget, activities, and volunteer opportunities. There will also be time to socialize with other parents in addition to listening to relevant information from a variety of speakers.  Mark your calendars for:
  • Tuesday 09/13, 7pm
  • Tuesday 12/13, 7pm 
  • Tuesday 03/28, 7pm 

The PTO operates on an annual budget, which is approved by a PTO membership vote. All members of the St. Henry PTO, attending the monthly PTO meetings, have voting privileges. The money used to sponsor PTO activities is raised through PTO annual fundraising events. Our main school fundraiser is the CRUSDADER ROYALE, an adult casino-style event held in the school gym on March 4, 2017 – Save the date!  The PTO also receives income through the following programs:            
  • Kroger Community Rewards                     
  • Remke Caring Neighbors                         
  • Skyline Chili Nights                                  
  • Box Tops for Education                                           
  • Red Robin’s “Burgers for Better Schools”                 

This year, the PTO will be adding a one-time-only fundraising event solely to raise the necessary funds to build a new playground.  This event will be a Boosterthon Fun Run that starts off with a pep rally on 9/29, followed by 5 daily lesson/inspiration/incentive days, and is capped off with a Fun Run Glow Run in the gym on 10/5.  Be on the lookout for more information coming soon. We are hoping this will be the ONLY PLAYGROUND FUNDRAISER needed.      

The PTO sponsors several social events throughout the school year including:            
  • An Evening for New Parents                     
  • Back-To-School Picnic                         
  • Family Movie Night                                  
  • Mother/Son Night                         
  • Father/Daughter Dance                            
  • Kidfest               

The PTO provides the following services to the staff and students/families throughout the school year:        
  • Hearing/Vision Screens at Readyfest              
  • Room Parents for each classroom                     
  • Kona Ice at Readyfest/Last Day of School               
  • Santa’s Workshop Donuts after mass for Catholic Schools Week   
  • Confirmation Reception 
  • Spirit Wear for new students/faculty               
  • Used Uniform Sale Snacks Bags for students during testing          
  • Summer Grade-Level Gatherings   
  • Kindergarten Celebration Reception                        
  • Staff Christmas Gifts 
  • Staff Luncheon during Catholic Schools Week 
  • Teacher Appreciation Week 
  • 8th Grade Graduation Brunch Coordination       
  • Hospitality Suites as needed 
  • Teacher Dinner during Parent Conferences      
  • New Spirit Wear 3 times a year                   

The PTO communicates with parents primarily through the Principal’s weekly newsletter as well as through the St. Henry Grade School Parent Facebook Page, St. Henry’s and St. Barb’s church bulletins, and flyers sent home.  The PTO primarily utilizes Sign-Up Genius as a way to recruit/communicate with volunteers for events and donations needed.         

The success of the St. Henry PTO can be measured in the cooperative spirit with which parents and staff work together to share their care and concern for St. Henry School students. The PTO’s success can be seen in the student’s appreciation for their school, their teachers and the opportunities presented. We are always looking for new ideas, new faces, and feedback.
